ABOUT OUR FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY BACKGROUNDS
Our food photography backgrounds and surface boards are individually hand made to order, unless it is shown to be in stock on the listing. Please bear this in mind when ordering as there is a lead time usually 2 – 4 weeks to make the boards. Please also bear in mind that not every board is going to be exactly the same as the one pictured in the listing, but it will be very similar. We make every effort to reproduce the finish as described by using the same materials, processes and techniques.
The concrete, metal, plaster and reclaimed planked food photography backgrounds and surfaces are only available single sided, this is to keep them as portable as possible and manageable for location purposes. Only ‘paint effect’ boards and ‘wood’ boards are available double sided, please contact us if you would like to choose a double sided board other than the solid wood ones in the shop.
Our food photography backgrounds and surfaces come in a standard size of 90 cm x 60 cm / 3 feet by 2 feet approximately. Big enough to shoot on and small enough to be portable, so great for on location. We regularly make larger boards for customers. If you would like a custom size please contact us with your requirements and we will do our best to help.
With the exception of backgrounds which use waxes, all of our backgrounds and surfaces are finished with a matt non reflective hard wearing sealer, which is chemical, heat and water resistant.
Concrete, paint effect and planked boards can be stored upright on their end, side or flat. Solid wooden boards such as the ‘Antique pine’, ‘Cindy’s Table’ and ‘Worn White’ are prone to warping if subjected to long periods of high humidity and heat levels. They should be stored flat if possible in a cool and dry environment.
For cleaning and care of our products we recommend using a damp cloth to wipe down our boards, then wipe with a dry cloth. Stubborn food residues can be removed with soapy water and a cloth or sponge, by carefully wiping the surface. We do not recommend using any type of chemicals or abrasives, as this may damage the protective finish. For our textured backgrounds, a soft brush is recommended to remove any food stuck in the background before wiping with a damp cloth.
We recommend cleaning up any food spills as soon as possible. Food residue and spills that have a high pigment colour which are left too long on the background may stain the protective finish of the background.
We can hire our photography backgrounds and surfaces should you only wish to use them for a short period of time if you are able to collect and return. Please contact us for details.
Please do not hesitate to contact us directly if you have questions or concerns about our photography backgrounds and surface boards.
